1K a year The job of Health Office Technician is done for the purpose/s of performing student health duties at assigned school site; administering first aid and dispensing prescribed medications in accordance with State policies and practices, assisting in student vision and hearing screening testing; assisting with student care; and maintaining confidential student health records.
Responsibilities:
Administers emergency first aid in absence of nurse, e.
g.
insect bites, nausea, shortness of breath, seizures, dizziness, headaches, sprains, chest pain, etc.
Attends in-service trainings, staff meetings, workshops, etc.
, as requested Communicates with students, teachers, guidance counselors, parents, etc.
Dispenses medications to students under the direction of a health care professional Maintains inventory of health office supplies at assigned school site(s) Maintains student health records, e.
g.
prescription dispensing log, accident reports, claim forms, etc.
Maintains work areas, e.
g.
sinks, counters, beds, blankets, etc.
Performs a variety of screening, e.
g.
scoliosis, color blindness, vision, hearing, etc.
Performs record keeping and clerical functions, e.
g.
data entry of medical alert status, shot records, withdrawing students, answering calls, copying, faxing, etc.
Processes student's new and withdrawal forms Provides counseling referral services to students when nurse is not available Assists other personnel as may be required Requirements:
CPR/First Aid Certificate Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements This is a 10 month School Year position only.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
